As a home daycare provider and mom, I have had the opportunity to prepare and serve several snacks throughout the day for kids. When I prepare snacks, I try and consider the age and the pickiness of each child, in addition to foods that encourage the use of their motor skills. Even though I make multiple snacks each week, I thought I’d share 5 Perfect Snacks for Little Hands.
I try and keep the snacks that I prepare for my kids healthy, tasty, and simple to make. As I said before, all kids have different taste preferences so some snacks do not appeal to some kids, but it’s important to encourage kids to try. Here are the top 5 snacks that the kids in my home always seem to ask me for:
- Pretzels and Peanut Butter with Honey: I like to purchase the straight pretzels because they are perfect for little hands to grab onto. I also like to add some peanut butter with a squirt of honey mixed in for dipping.
- Fruit Bowls: Small pieces of fruit are not only healthy and delicious but also perfect for little hands. I love to change up the variety of fruit I add so the kids have a chance to try new foods.
- Mini Sandwiches: These are the perfect lunches for little hands. You can change them up and little hands can easily pick them up easily.
- Cheese Cubes with Crackers: Cheese cubes are not only delcious and a healthy source of calcium but they allow kids to use their fine motor skills when grabbing those yummy cheese cubes.
- Lil’ Beanies: I recently purchased these from Walmart. They actually stopped me in my tracks because I instantly knew my kids would love them and after reading the packaging, I fell in love with them. They are a brand new product, sold at Walmart for around $1.86 per canister, and are available in two flavors, White Cheddar & Broccoli and Original (Sea Salt).
When I arrived home, I first introduced these to my 4-year-old. At first, she was unsure of them but after she saw her daddy try them and like them, she agreed to give them a try. She tried the Original flavor and loved them! She grabbed the entire container and decided to sit back and relax while she snacked on them.
I was excited to incorporate these Lil’ Beanies into my daycare kid’s snack rotation. I knew that they would love the crunch, taste, and the ability to grab onto them without any trouble. As a daycare provider, I liked knowing that they have 2 grams of protein per serving, 1 gram of fiber per serving, no GMO, no preservatives, no artificial colors or flavors, and are made with navy beans and rice flour.
As a mom and daycare provider, I appreciate snacks that make my kids and me happy. I take care of kids that range from ages 1 to 4 and every child is in love with these Lil’ Beanies. I know that I will have to make sure that I stock up on these at Walmart.
What are your favorite snacks that you serve your little ones? Have you tried Lil’ Beanies?
My little one loves them as well! And how can mom resist when they are made out of beans and rice flour. Win/win!
Ooh I love how you made a list of great ideas. I especially love the photo of your little reading and snacking – two of the best things 🙂
Aside: LOVE your blog layout 🙂
