I recently published how to make Cinnamon Apple Empanadas. This is a fabulous recipe that my entire family loved.
Since I recently purchased an Air Fryer, I decided to try making these Cinnamon Apple Empanadas in the air fryer.
I have fallen in love with my air fryer and I am always trying to find new ways to use it. Using the air fryer creates less of a mess and is a bit healthier.
What I love about making cinnamon apple empanadas is that not only are they easy to make but they use very few ingredients.
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 3 Granny Smith apples, diced
- Cinnamon/Sugar mix
- Empanada wraps (found in your grocer’s freezer)- thawed
- Oil for coating
The steps to make Cinnamon Apple Empanadas are simple.
- Peel & dice 3 Granny Smith apples
- Melt butter in a saucepan
- Once melted, stir in the sugar & the cinnamon
- Let dissolve
- Add apples & boil on low until apples are tender
- Remove from heat
- Spoon a tablespoon of apple mixture onto one half of each empanada wrap
- Fold the other half over & use a fork to seal the open the edges
- Pro Tip- I seal the edges with a fork on each side
- Brush each side of the empanadas with oil
- Sprinkle with a cinnamon/sugar mixture on each side
- Cook in the air fryer for 5-8 minutes at 330 degrees
- Pro Tip- First cook only one empanada to test for the correct amount of time. I cooked mine for 10 minutes and it made them too crunchy.
- Serve alone or with ice cream.
