During the holidays I am always looking for new treats to make my family, to bring to work parties, treats to give as gifts and more. The other day, while I was at a family get together I discovered an amazing dessert that everyone could not keep their hands off of, so I decided to recreate it and add a little seasonal twist to it.

A sweet treat that is perfect for family gatherings.

I love to make these Chocolate Covered Oreo Balls because they not only taste amazing but they are simple to make. They are so simple to make that I had my 11-year-old follow most of the steps by herself.

Chocolate Covered Oreo Balls

For this recipe, you only need a few simple ingredients: 1 regular sized package of Oreos, 8oz of cream cheese, softened, 2 bags of milk chocolate morsels, and crushed peppermints or any other toppings that you might prefer.

The directions to make Chocolate Covered Oreo Balls is simple but slightly time-consuming, so having my daughter help me, was a huge time saver.

  1. Add Oreos to a food processor and grind them until there are not any more chunks of cookie. You may want to grind 10 Oreos at a time.
  2. Add the cream cheese to the blender and blend until the dough is soft.
  3. Transfer the mixture into a bowl.
  4. Roll the Oreo mixture into bite-sized balls.
  5. Melt the chocolate on low in a double boiler, stirring often, until melted.
  6. While you are melting the chocolate, place rolled cookies into the freezer.
  7. Once the chocolate is melted, dip the rolled cookies into the melted chocolate until completely coated.
  8. Use a spoon to remove the chocolate covered cookie and place on a tray lined with wax paper.
  9. Sprinkle any type of topping onto the rolled Oreo ball, such as crushed peppermints, nuts, sprinkles etc.
  10. Freeze for around 15 minutes.
  11. Serve and keep refrigerated.
