I recently threw my daycare kids a Play All Day Elmo Party and they loved it! Before the party started I wanted to create some fun Elmo treats to go along with the Elmo theme so I decided to make some Elmo Krispie Treats. I knew that they would be a simple and quick dessert that the kids would love.
For these Elmo Krispie Treats you will need krispie cereal, butter, chocolate wafer cookies, marshmallows, orange candies, red food coloring, icing and black edible gel. The first step to these treats are to make the krispies. I will post the full recipe below.
Once the krispie treats are cooled, you will want to cut them into rectangles and place them on a tray so you can begin to decorate them. Here is a quick Instagram video on how to decorate them .
Ingredients
- 5 tablespoons butter
- 1 package (10 oz., about 40) Marshmallows
- 6 cups rice krispie cereal
- 8+ drop of red food coloring
- Chocolate Wafer Cookies
- Orange candies
- Marshmallows
- Black edible gel
Instructions
- Krispie Treats:
- Melt the butter into a deep pot
- Drop in food coloring
- Stir in marshmallows and stir until melted
- Use more red food coloring if you feel that the color needs to be more red
- Stir in krispie cereal
- Scoop into a cake pan and mold with wax paper
- Let cool
- Once cooled, cut into thick rectangles
- Decorating Elmo:
- Mouth- Break a chocolate wafer cookie in half
- Spread icing onto back of wafer cookie and place onto krispie treat
- Nose- Dab icing onto the back of the orange candy and place above the mouth
- Eyes- Dab icing onto the back of the marshmallows and place onto the treat
- Place a dot of black onto the center of the marshmallow eye
Elmo Krispy Treats are simple and fun to make. They are also the perfect treat to bring to an Elmo or Sesame Street party.
