I was provided coupons for product redemption, information, and gift card have been provided by Entenmann’s so that I could try the product and share my thoughts and information about Entenmann’s. The opinions expressed in this post are my own and do not reflect the opinions of Entenmann’s.
If you have not already noticed, there seems to be a ‘national day’ for almost everything. There are so many ‘national days’ that I cannot keep up with them, however, there is one ‘national day’ that my family loves to celebrate.
My family loves to celebrate National Donut Day. It is one of the ‘national days’ that we never miss. Of course, my girls love to celebrate National Donut Day, which is on the first Friday of June each year. This year National Donut Day is on June 7th and once again my girls and I will be celebrating. On this day, my girls think that the day is just about eating donuts but it’s actually about a lot more and that is why I celebrate it.
National Donut Day began in Chicago in 1938 when the Salvation Army honored their members who served donuts to soldiers during World War 1 and to help those in need during the Great Depression. As a way of honoring those that serve others, every National Donut Day, I like to show my appreciation and give back. A few ways that this can be done is:
- Purchase some $5 gift cards and pass them out to anyone that provides service to you. This could be a gas station attendant, fast food worker, or a grocery store clerk. Oftentimes these people are overworked and underappreciated so this unexpected kindness will warm their heart.
- Purchase a few boxes of Entenmann’s® donuts and bring them to your child’s school office. The office staff serves not only parents but our children, teachers, and guests.
- Have a box of Entenmann’s® donuts available for when your postal carrier delivers your mail or when a delivery service delivers a package on this day.
- I also like to get my neighbors a box of Entenmann’s®donuts for their family to enjoy. It’s important to recognize your neighbors and show them appreciation because we are a community that watches out for one another.
Another way that you can celebrate National Donut Day as a family is to make some homemade donuts. Here are a few of my favorite recipes:
