I recently independently relocated from the home I have been in for over 9 years. When I moved I didn’t take a lot of items with me. One reason I did not take many items was that my house was much smaller than the house I moved from.

Before I moved I knew that I would be on a budget and that I would have to plan smart when it came to furnishing and decorating my home. Even though I knew it would take time, effort and creativity I knew the importance of sprucing up my home even while on a budget.

How to decorate your home on a budget

How to Spruce Up Your Home While On A Budget

  • Free– Check your local neighborhood Facebook pages, and apps such as Freecycle. People are always giving items away that could be amazing decorative items for your home.
  • Garage Sales– Make it a habit to go to neighborhood garage sales. Once again people are constantly redecorating and selling their items for very little. You never know what you will find.
  • Goodwill– My thought process for visiting the local Goodwill is the same as garage sales. You never know what you will find and items are constantly changing.
  • Hobby Lobby– If you have never been to Hobby Lobby or visited their online store you need to know that they have amazing sales throughout the year. The decor that they offer is fun and if you are patient you can purchase most items at a fair price but you have to be patient and continue to watch for sales.
  • Paint– Color can add a lot to your home. If your walls are white sit down with your family and decide what color or colors you want each room to be. You do not have to paint your entire house at once. Since you are on a budget take your time and decide which rooms will make you the happiest to paint first. Colorful walls can and will make a huge difference in how you feel about your home.
  • Declutter– Remove as much clutter as possible. Clutter can create unneeded stress and anxiety. Decluttering will also create clean spaces which will make you feel better about your home.

It is important to spruce up your home even if you are on a budget. Your home is your castle. You need to be happy and comfortable.

Even if you are on a budget it is important to do what you can to spruce your home up. Your home is your sanctuary. It is where you spend much of your time, create memories and plan your future.

It is important to know that you do not have to do everything at once. Small changes within your home can make an amazing impact.
