I have 3 little girls that are completely potty trained and that makes me one happy mama. My youngest has been 99.9% potty trained for 2 years, however still has unexpected slip-ups, which is perfectly normal. As a mom and a home daycare provider that has potty trained and is in the process of potty training several little ones, I know that not only is potty training one of the hardest parenting tasks but it something that you want to make sure that you are 100% prepared for. In an effort to help moms that are going through this stage with their little ones, I’d love to share with you 5 Must Haves When Potty Training.
One of the most important things that every parent or caregiver should know is that every child is different. Each child potty trains at different ages, on their own time, and different methods may not work the same for each child, however, there are 5 must haves that each parent should consider when potty training.
- Proper Clothing: It is important to dress your child in proper clothing when they are in training. When my kids are at home, I let them run around in their undies and when we go out, I make sure that they are dressed in leggings or pants with an elastic waist. You want to make sure that your child can easily and quickly pull down their pants so they don’t have an accident, so make sure to stock up on the proper clothing.
- Stool: Kids are little so in order for them to get onto the potty safely they need a stool. A stool is always necessary so they can independently wash their hands afterward.
- Potty Seat: Even if you are training your child to go potty in a potty chair, it is still important to teach them how to use the big potty. Since kids are little they may think that they are going to fall into the big potty, so in order to help them feel comfortable and confident, a potty seat is a must-have.
- Potty Chart: When a child starts the potty training process, they need motivation, so I like to encourage kids with their very own Potty Chart. This is a great way to encourage kids to want to try.
- Cottonelle®Flushable Cleansing Cloths: One big part of the potty training process is teaching your child to clean themselves after they have gone potty. I love these alcohol-free cleansing cloths because they can be taken anywhere and when you are potty training it’s important to try and have as many of these must haves everywhere you go. In addition, the Cottonelle®Flushable Cleansing Cloths comes with a OneTouch* dispensing tub so that you can easily carry them in your diaper bag.
During my trips to Sam’s Club, I like to stock up on Cottonelle®Flushable Cleansing Cloths. Even though my kids are potty trained, I like to have them for my daycare kids and for the rest of my family.
It is important to give kids extra confidence, motivation and encouragement when they are making a huge adjustment. It’s also very important that a child feels clean after each successful potty and that’s why Cottonelle® Fresh Care* Flushable Cleansing Cloths is perfect for your little ones.
