It’s almost summer and with summertime comes picnics with the family. I have so many fun memories as a child having picnics with my sisters, even when the picnics were in our own backyard. Now as a mom of 3 little girls and a Mimi to a granddaughter, I get to help them create fun and amazing memories while having summertime picnics. Here are 5 simple tips to a successful picnic so you can create the perfect family experience with your kids or your significant other; who says you have to have kids to have a picnic?

5 Simple Tips to a Successful Picnic

In order to get ready for my picnic I headed to my local Walmart and grabbed a few supplies that are necessary for a successful picnic. I first went to the Drink  Mix aisle and had to grab some Kool-Aid Easy Mix, which come in 3 different flavors: Cherry, Tropical Punch, and Grape. Of course I had to grab all three because not only are they affordable but I have 4 little girls that will be joining me at this picnic and they have their favorites.Kool-Aid Easy Mix

Picnics can be fun for any age but you want to make sure that you bring the right supplies so your experience can be as close to perfect as possible. Here are my 5 simple tips to a successful picnic and I hope that you find them helpful.

  • Pick the perfect spot: Finding the perfect picnic spot does not have to be hard. You want to make sure that you find a spot that has a shaded area, possibly a restroom if you are going to be with little kids and a spot that is clean. Our favorite picnic spots are at parks and sometimes in our own backyard!
  • Plan fun games and activities: During our picnics we like to bring fun toys such as hula hoops, scooters, bikes, balls, and toy cars. Even if you go to a park, it is always fun to bring extra toys for imagination fun and a scooter or a bike for extra exercise.
  • Stay hydrated: After our picnic is over we like to run around and play, so it is important to stay hydrated. I make sure to pack water bottles along with Kool-Aid Easy Mix. My girls love to choose from the different flavor options that consist of cherry, tropical punch, and grape. As a mom I love how simple the Kool-Aid Easy Mix is to use. It is so simple that my girls can add the mix to their own water bottles without any help from me. I also appreciate that Kool-Aid Easy Mix has 50% less sugar than leading regular sodas.
  • Pack the right supplies: Make sure that you pack for the expected but also the unexpected. I always like to pack extra clothes for my younger kids, wet wipes, a few band aids, bug spray and sunblock. Doing this will make everyone’s picnic more enjoyable.
  • Bring a special treat: I love to bake and my girls love to eat what I bake, so I always try and whip up a special treat each time we go on a fun picnic. Often times I will bake cupcakes since they are simple to make, they travel well, easy to eat and are fun to get creative with. Since I purchased the Kool-Aid Easy Mix I decided to create some Kool-Aid Poke Cupcakes using the 3 different flavors from the Kool-Aid Easy Mix. Since my girls loved them and since they were super simple to make I thought I would share with my readers how to make them.

Kool-Aid Poke Cupcakes are a simple recipe to make and a recipe that you can have your kids help you with.
