5 Things Not To Do When On a Cruise

My family and I recently went on our first cruise. You can read about it here. We had the best time and could not wait to go on our next cruise, so before we left the boat we scheduled our next one. We could not be more excited. As a family, before we board our next cruise on Royal Caribbean’s Liberty of the Seas, we decided to look back on our first cruise and come up with 5 Things Not to Do When on a Cruise.

When you go on a cruise there are things that you must not do!We learned that on our Royal Caribbean Liberty of the Seas cruise. Read here so you can have a great time on your cruise

There is so much to do on a cruise. The words “I’m bored” and “There is nothing to do” never came out of anyone’s mouth. While we did a lot on the cruise, soon after the cruise was over we realized that because of certain decisions that we made, we missed out on a lot.

5 Things Not To Do When On a Cruise

  1. Stay on the Boat During Port Stops- You should try and plan at least 1 excursion during your cruise. If you have small kids that you feel are too young for the excursion that you choose, then you can leave them at the Kid’s Club for the day.
  2. Stay in Your Shell- There is a lot of entertainment on the Libert of the Seas. They have game shows, Karaoke, trivia contests, and more. While it’s fun to watch everyone else act silly and think they sound good when they sing, it’s more fun to be part of the action. I can 99.9% guarantee you that no one on the cruise will know you, so get silly and have fun!
  3. Set Your Alarm- Unless you have a very early morning excursion that is scheduled, do not set your alarm. Wake up naturally, rest, order room service and watch the waves roll by. You are on cruise time, there is no schedule!
  4. Schedule Dinner Every Night- This was a mistake that we made. We scheduled a dinner in the Main Dining Room and at some of the restaurants almost every night. Not only were we exhausted but it caused us to miss some of the night time activities because we were too busy eating.
  5. Gain Weight- This is possible, but during my first cruise I was not motivated to do anything more than relax, eat and drink. It is, however, important that you move! The cruise ship does have a workout room that is always open and the cruise ship is so big that you can walk laps around the ship during a nice morning, afternoon or evening. This is my goal during my next scheduled cruise.

If you are planning on going on a cruise, make sure that you have the best time of your life. Make sure that you relax, try new things, and enjoy every moment.
