Since the girls and I are quarantined during the COVID 19, I have been cooking more family meals and baking a lot more.
I am avoiding going to the grocery store and I am trying to use the foods that we have around the house.
The other day the girls wanted some cake but unfortunately, we did not have any icing. As gross as it may seem, I usually go the easy route and use store-bought icing.
Since we didn’t have any store-bought icing, I knew that I needed to look around for the ingredients to make homemade Cream Cheese Cake Frosting.
Cream Cheese Frosting uses only 3 ingredients:
- 8 ounce of cream cheese
- 4 tablespoons of room temperature butter
- 3 cups confectionary sugar
The steps to making Cream Cheese Frosting are also simple:
- Combine the softened butter and cream cheese to a large mixing bowl, blend
- Slowly mix in the powdered sugar until all ingredients are combined
- Refrigerate cake after frosting

This was the easiest cake frosting to make.
If you want to add color to the frosting you can simply stir in a few drops of food coloring.
Since the frosting is made with cream cheese, I recommend storing the cake in the refrigerator.
Made this with 1/2 cup of sugar and it was perfectly sweet.
