Can you believe that school is almost halfway over? It seems like yesterday that everyone was picking out their favorite lunch boxes and choosing their favorite snacks to bring to school. I cannot believe how quickly time has passed and how great the kids in my home have been so far this school year. They have had perfect attendance, straight A’s, and they do their homework without complaining. To be honest, the only thing I’ve noticed them frown upon has been the lunches that I have been packing. They like to bring their lunch to school but lately they have been getting tired of what I’ve been sending them to school with. I think that a child’s lunch should not only be delicious and fun, but simple for mom and dad to prepare each morning. After discovering some new products from Horizon, I knew that I needed to change things up and create a delicious school lunch with Horizon.
During my weekly trip to Walmart, I knew that I needed to change up my girl’s lunches, so I immediately headed to the Canned Fruit aisle and the Cereal aisle. I picked up a pack of Horizon Kids Aseptic Milk Boxes and a few boxes of Horizon Squeeze Pouches. I was so excited, not only because of the convenience of the single serve milk and fruit pouches, and the variety of flavor options, but also because I knew my girls would be thrilled to see a delicious change in their lunch box.
When I pack my girl’s lunch boxes, I always try and give them a variety of food but I also try and keep the process of packing their lunch simple for me! Here are a few tips that can help you have a stress free time packing your child’s lunch while also providing your child something delicious to eat:
- Prepare your child’s lunch the night before. Mornings can be hectic, so if you can prepare your child’s lunch the night before that will give you one more thing that you can check off of your morning to do list.
- If your child is picky, allow them to choose between 2-3 flavor options. For example, Horizon Single Serve Milk Boxes come in chocolate or vanilla, and Horizon Squeeze Pouches come in 3 flavors: mixed berry, strawberry, and orange. Avoid asking them, “What do you want for lunch?”, but instead ask them, “Do you want chocolate or vanilla milk?”.
- Choose foods that have ingredients that you can feel good about but also foods that taste good. It is important that you pack your child’s lunch with food that they will actually eat and not trade with a friend, or throw away in the school trash can. Horizon Squeeze Pouches have 5 grams of protein per pouch and are an excellent source of calcium. Kids love the flavor options and the creamy blend of organic milk and real fruit.
- Prepare bags of fruit throughout the week. Doing this will save you a lot of time.
- Save time and purchase ready to go drinks and snacks. Horizon Single Serve Milk Boxes and Horizon Squeeze Pouches make it simple because their products are the perfect grab and go snacks. This also saves a lot of time and headache.
My kids got excited when I showed them the new Horizon products that I was going to start adding to their lunch boxes. My grand daughter was very excited that The Peanuts Movie was on the Horizon milk package I bought and that she now got to have chocolate milk at school. My daughter was excited about the different variety of fruit pouch flavors that she has never seen before and as a mom, I am excited that not only are my kids excited but that Horizon has given me a variety of product options that I don’t have to think twice about when I pack their lunches.
Has your family seen The Peanuts Movie that debuted in theaters on November 6th? Did they love it? What tips do you have on packing a stress free but delicious school lunch for your kids?
It looks like everyone is on track for a great school year! And thanks to Horizon, they’ll be excited for lunch box surprises! We’re planning to see The Peanuts Movie next week during Thanksgiving break! #client
