The House of Fauci’s have so many traditions, especially during the holidays. Some of our traditions include watching the same holiday movies as a family each year, eating pancakes on Christmas Eve and saying what we are thankful for before we eat Thanksgiving dinner. We love to start new and fun traditions so that we can not only carry on and create fun memories but so that we can do more things together as a family. After a little bit of thought we decided to start a new tradition to Pie it Forward this holiday season.

Pie it Forward This Holiday Season

Pie it Forward is a fun and simple concept. You are basically sharing the joy of pie to someone in hopes that they will continue the tradition and pie it forward to someone that they know. I think what I love the most about this tradition is seeing the surprised look on the person’s face when they receive their gift.

In order to get ready to start this new tradition, I got to make a fun trip to Walmart to pick up my supplies. I didn’t want to just hand the person that was receiving this gift a pie, I wanted to get creative. I purchased a big mason jar, a fall candle, wax melts and a pretty basket. After the basket supplies were added to my cart, I went to the freezer section of Walmart and picked up 2 Marie Callender’s® Dessert Pies; 1 Pumpkin Pie and a Southern Pecan Pie. I then went to the Dairy section and grabbed the biggest Reddi-wip® I could find. You can’t have pie without Reddi-wip®!

I love the combination of Southern Pecan Pie and Pumpkin Pie so I decided to add the 2 pies together for the pie that I would be gifting. The first step was to prepare the 2 pies. They were simple to make and delicious to smell!

Once the pies have completely cooled you will then combine the 2 pies and layer them in the mason jar. The first step is to add crust to the bottom of the mason jar. I simply broke off the edges of one of the pies, sprinkled them with some cinnamon and placed them in the bottom of the jar.

Prepare Crust

After the crust has been placed on the bottom of the jar you then start layering your pie. I put a huge scoop of Southern Pecan Pie on top of the crust, then a handful of chocolate chips, a huge scoop of Pumpkin Pie and then I topped it with Reddi-wip® and a dash of cinnamon.

After your pie has completely been put together you can put the basket together. Make sure to label the jar with #ShareTheJoyofPie or write a nice card explaining the meaning behind this new tradition and encouraging them to Share the Joy of Pie also.

Marie Callender’s® Dessert Pies make it so easy to create a fun Pie it Forward gift basket. They have so many flavors and they are quick and easy to make. Make sure to top your pie with Reddi-Wip® or add it to the basket.
