It’s deer season, so like a lot of wives that are married to hunters I have a freezer full of venison. This year we have more meat than usual because not only is my husband hunting but my adult boys are as well, so most of everything ends up in our freezer. Since the weather as has been cold and rainy lately, I decided to make a batch of Slow Cooker Venison Stew. It is easy to make and tastes really good.
For this Venison Stew, you can add additional ingredients if you would like. I would have added a can of corn but my family is not a huge fan of corn so I didn’t. Here is what you will need:
- 1 pound of ground venison/sausage mix
- 2 large potatoes
- 3 stalks of chopped celery
- 3 raw, peeled and chopped carrots
- 1 teaspoon of sea salt or preferred salt
- 16 oz can of undrained diced tomatoes
- 1 cup of water
Since this Venison Stew is prepared in the slow cooker, it is simple to make and saves you a lot of time. Place all of the ingredients in the slow cooker and cook on low or 7 hours. Serve with french bread.

Venison Stew is the perfect dish to serve on cold days. In addition, it is very easy to make and the ingredients can be altered each time you make it. Some different alteration can include adding a can of corn or using a different cut of venison.
