I have 3 girls that are 6, 11, and 12 years old. Every year they look forward to celebrating Valentines Day with their friends at school. My youngest two girls still have Valentines Day classroom parties, while my oldest daughter likes to bring little cards and presents to her little group of friends. If you have school-age kids, here are a few Valentines Day classroom party tips that you may find very helpful.
Every classroom is different but from my experience, most classrooms are very similar to how they celebrate Valentines Day in the classroom.
Valentine’s Day Classroom Party Tips
- Volunteer– Often times, classes need volunteers to help during the Valentines Day classroom party. Contact your child’s teacher or room mom and ask if they need extra help. It’s an hour out of your day, your child, the teacher, and the students will appreciate it. It’s also a great way to get to see your child interact with his/her friends.
- Sign Up/ Contribute– A month or so before the annual Valentines Day party, the room mom will send a note asking for a small monetary donation to go towards the party or will send a sign-up sheet of supplies that are needed. Do not ignore this request. As a parent, you need to contribute something. When parents do not contribute, it makes it really hard for the room mom to provide the class a fun and memorable party.
- Plan Early– After every holiday, the remaining seasonal items are discounted. If you are lucky to find enough of the same items, purchase them for next year. Sometimes Valentine cards will discount their seasonal items before the holiday is even over! With a large family, this makes me happy.
- Age Appropriate– Make sure that the Valentines that you choose are age appropriate and not babyish. You don’t want to send Elmo Valentine cards with your 5th grader unless your 5th grader specifically requests them. Take a look at this Kindergarten Valentines Day Goody Bag that I made for my sweet Bella last year. To this day, she continues to talk about how much she loved this bag for her Kinder class.
- Shop Smart– As a busy mom, I like to find all of my Valentines Day classroom party needs in one place. With 3 girls that have 3 different taste preferences, I appreciate that Oriental Trading has a wide variety of Valentines Day options for kids of every age. Take a look at this video of the Valentine items that my girls chose to give to their friends:

I am in love with the Valentines Day selections that my girls and I made for their classmates and friends. As I said in the video, the prices of these items were extremely reasonable and the quality of each item is perfect.
