Izumi on the Navigator of the Seas

My family has been on two cruises with Royal Caribbean which included the Liberty of the Seas and Navigator of the Seas. We loved each one and made sure that we tried a few of the specialty dining restaurants. Each one that we tried was amazing and we ate at them multiple times. During our last cruise on Navigator of the Seas, we were able to try one specialty restaurant for the first time. Izumi on Navigator of the Seas is an amazing Japanese cuisine that offers a wide variety of dining options that will most likely please everyone in your group. Since this was our first time to eat at Izumi, I wanted to share our experience.

What to Pack When You go on a Cruise

A Japanese restaurant on the Navigator of the Seas that not many people know about. Here is what you want to know.

Izumi is not on the Liberty of the Seas so when we were planning our cruise on the Navigator of the Seas we were pleasantly surprised to have a new restaurant to experience. Here is some of what we experienced, our thoughts and some things you may want to know before making your reservations at Izumi on the Navigator of the Seas.

  • Located on Deck 14
  • They offer lunch and dinner.
  • The dining area is much smaller compared to the other restaurants on board. I appreciated this because it allowed the chefs and servers to focus on you and not be bombarded by so many guests.
  • The dress code is ‘smart casual’. If you do not know what this means, it basically means to avoid shorts and t-shirts.
  • If you purchased the ‘Dining Package’ make sure to ask your waiter to explain how it works. From my memory, I believe each person could order up to a certain dollar amount without having to pay extra. The prices were extremely reasonable so the price point was more than enough.

  • Each dish comes with a lot of food.
  • There is not a kid’s menu but the waiter will help you choose a meal for your little one if you need help.
  • The establishment is relatively quiet, especially when my group left.
  • The menu contains a variety of items such as a wide variety of sushi, salads, signature rolls, soups and more.
  • Before you order, you are served a bowl of edamame beans and a warm towel to clean your hands with.
  • Your food is made fresh, so expect to wait. The wait is totally worth it.
  • They will bend over backwards to please you.

When my husband said that our family would be eating at Izumi I was not thrilled. I am not the biggest fan of sushi and I think ramen is super boring. When we arrived at Izumi I told myself that I would have an open mind. The waiter and my family helped me order and I have to say that I was beyond amazed. I am a super fan of sushi now. Everything that I tried, I loved.

What to Teach Your Kids Before Going on a Cruise

Izumi is a little hidden gem on Royal Caribbean’s Navigator of the Seas. It’s not really talked about and most people on the ship don’t even know about it. My family left Izumi and declared it our 2nd favorite specialty restaurant on the ship.
