Let me just begin by saying that I will not give up on Orange is the New Black. The first 2 seasons had me on the edge of my seat and sadly, like most have said, this season has me tapping my fingers, running to the kitchen without hitting pause and wondering what the writers were thinking, but I am holding onto hope that the upcoming episodes will put me back on the edge of my seat. This week the topic of discussion will be about deception at Litchfield Penitentiary but first let’s do a quick recap. Remember if you’ve not seen this episode, save for later and / or go to the bottom of the page and answer the discussion question.
Recap: This episode focuses a lot on Nicky and the drug use that got her into Litchfield. The big drug plan that she made with Luschek did not go the way she expected. He actually double crossed her to save his butt.
Daya is planning her wedding with the Latino girls but where is Bennett?
Rumors are floating around among the staff that Litchfield is closing. When Caputo is confronted, he stumbles over his explanation.
Red attempts to help Healy with his marriage and in turn ‘rips’ his wife a new one and compliments Healy.
The meth heads hit the heroin jackpot.
Caputo contacts Fig and threatens to blackmail her if she doesn’t ask or try to convince her husband to save the prison. In the end, Fig gives Caputo an envelope of information that could help save the prison.
My Favorite Moments:
- Learning more about Nicky’s past.
- While the girls were talking about Daya’s ‘imaginary’ wedding, Maria Ruiz gave them a dose of reality.
- While gardening, the ‘Golden Girls’ debate making the garden a place to rent out for people to have sex in privacy.
- Drama Class.
- Seeing pimples on Piper’s face! Love that they are letting these show because, seriously, when you are in jail you don’t have access to Proactive.
- Honoring of the burned books.
- Learning that Blanca Flores speaks English!
Discussion Question: At one point in time we’ve all been deceived, right? Let’s talk, have you ever deceived anyone and if so why? Have you been deceived and if so by who? Did you forgive them? Why do you think people deceive others?
I agree with you on this season, I am kind of ehhhh. I think everyone is deceitful to a point. Think about social media we only post what we want people to see. We never fully reveal ourselves.
I have to start watching this show. Everyone I know says it s great and reading these posts really make me want to get on boar and start watching
I have already heard a lot about this show, but never watched it before. May be having a look at all the episodes will give a better idea. I always let them go even if someone deceives me as life has to move on.
I think parents are notorious deceivers! I told my youngest son that the tooth fairy’s phone wasn’t charged, that’s why she didn’t get my text about him loosing his tooth. It’s all apart of parenting 🙂 Great recap
I’m with you! I’m not giving up on OITNB but this season is so disconnected and all over the place! Forgiveness is the easy part for me. It’s forgetting and letting the person that’s been deceptive back into my life.
This is one of my favorite shows. I just finished season three last night. I always try to forgive those that have lied to me. Life id to short to carry that around.
Oh this was such an amazing season, I liked it more than the last one. After moving out of country I truly noticed who was actually there for me and who wasn’t really my friend at all. It made for a sad truth but I am better of knowing it.
I’d like to say I’ve been deceived before because I like to believe in the good in people. I just heed caution when doing so now…
I am not on season three yet. I had to start over to refresh my brain!
I’m not sure how I’m feeling about the new season of Orange Is The New Black. I haven’t finished watching all the episodes yet so I will make my mind up once I do.
I’m sure I have. Nothing comes to mind right now ;0) I can’t wait for the next season.
I saw someone else comment they deceived their child. I think being a parent makes you deceptive. I have to “shield” my kids from the truth sometimes too, but I think all us moms are gulity of deceiving our little ones.
P.S. I like this season. It’s lighthearted which I like. I was a little scared watching with Vee stirring up so much trobule. Based on the season finale, it seems like Season 4 will have more drama to it.
Oh, S4 is going to be awesome! Daya’s baby drama and Nicky’s drug issues!
I really need to catch up on Season 3! I can’t think of a time I’ve been deceived significantly except by companies lying about products.
Yes! And I think this changes you as a person when it has happened multiple times. But I think that makes you more aware of what people can be like out there, but despite this, I consider myself to be an optimist 🙂
I have I GUESS. I don’t like some moms in my area, and I would chat with them and what not but I’d always have an excuse as to why I couldn’t make it to the park, etc but really I should have been honest instead of avoiding. I guess it’s not really deceiving per say, but yeah!
I need to check out this show. I deceived my son when it came to Santa, the easter bunny and the tooth fairy.
Sounds like an interesting show. I have not seen it, sounds suspenseful and drama filled!
I have been deceived by my best friend and it did cost our friendship. I had forgiven her, though.
In a way, I think we are all deceitful to an extent. After all, we do tell kids about the tooth fairy 😉
What? The tooth fairy is real… no deceit there.
I did deceive my child once when I said skunks were not allowed in the city limits, but it helped him get sleep so I thought it was worth it!
Best response ever!
I’m sure I’ve been deceived at some point, but I let that stuff go. It’s not worth holding onto.
