School has ended in the House of Fauci’s household and I can’t say enough how excited the kids and I are. No more waking up with an alarm clock, no more homework, no more getting lunches ready and no more getting out of our pajamas. We survived and have lived to tell about it. So with that said, I thought I would throw my kids, my daycare kids and myself an end of school year summer bash!
Before the summer bash, I needed to stop by Walmart to grab some party supplies, also known as food and drinks! I knew that I wanted to make the kids some fun and yummy M&M’s® Trifles and I also wanted to grab some Dr Pepper® Cherry for the grown ups, Skittles®, Life Savers® Hard Candy, a Pedigree Dentastix® for our puppy and some other delicious treats.
When I got home I started to work on the M&M’s® Trifles. This is a simple recipe that is super colorful, fun to make and fun to eat. You only need a few ingredients to make these M&M’s® Trifles. You will need white cake mix, food coloring, whipped cream and M&M’s® Plain. The first step is to make the cake. I decided to make a 2 tone cake using a different color for each cake. If you want to make a solid colored cake that is okay, feel free to get creative but try and add some fun colors. I divided the cake mix into four bowls and chose to use green and blue food coloring.
Once the colors have been added to the cake mix, you will want to start dividing the mix into the prepared pans. Making a two toned cake is simple. Make sure to take a look at my post Two Toned Cake Tutorial for the simple steps on how to make one. Once the cake mix has been divided into the pans, bake the cake according to the cake package directions. After the cakes have finished baking, let it cool for around 15 minutes, remove from pan, place the cakes on a cooling rack and let them finish cooling.
After the cakes have cooled, cut them using the cross hatch method and then get your supplies ready so you can build your M&M’s® Trifle.
Building the M&M’s® Trifle is fun and easy so feel free to let the kids help make their own.
For our summer bash, my daughter and I gathered up all the kids, headed outside and had them play some fun games like Simon Says, Freeze Tag, Backwards Racing and Monkey in the Middle! The kids had so much fun playing and celebrating the end of the school year and they definitely created some fun memories with their friends.
The kids enjoyed their games, the outside fun and the special treats that I made them, but let’s not forget Baylee. She had a long school year also and is looking forward to school being out so I had to include her in our end of school year summer bash. I surprised her with a bag of Pedigree Dentastix® Original flavor. This was her first time to try them and she loved them! I am sure that we will be getting her the Beef flavor during our next trip to Walmart.
The new school year will be here before we know it. Make every day count with your kids and be sure to make memories that will last forever.
