In all of my years, I have never tried Green Bean Casserole. As a matter of fact, I have never been in the same room as a Green Bean Casserole.
Around the holidays, I have seen commercials for Campbell’s Green Bean Casserole. I have also seen it advertised in magazines, but before today, I had never tried it.
I am not sure why it took me so long to try this dish. I love green beans and I love crunchy little onion bites.
I may have avoided this holiday side dish because I knew that one ingredient was cream of mushroom soup. To be honest, the thought of cream of mushroom soup has always made me feel ill in the tummy.
Since I had somehow avoided Green Bean Casserole for all of my life, I decided that it was time that I try it but after looking at Campbell’s Green Bean Casserole recipe I knew that I needed to make quite a few changes to it.
This side dish is very easy to make and uses very few ingredients.

- Add green beans, garlic, onions, and bacon to the pot
- Cover but stir often and cook until green beans can be cut through easily

- Stir in the cream of mushroom soup

I was very impressed with this Green Bean Casserole recipe. The use of fresh green beans along with the use of bacon made a huge impact on the outcome of this side dish.
If you choose to make this recipe my biggest piece of advice is to avoid adding salt. There is quite a bit of salt in the other ingredients that no extra salt is needed.
