Having lived in and around San Antonio for over 3 years has given me an appreciation for good food. San Antonio has some of the best eateries I have ever experienced. There is so much variety here from BBQ to Mexican Food to Mediterranean. This city has so many options. In an effort to help those that live in or around San Antonio or plan to visit, I have compiled my top 10 San Antonio restaurants I visited in 2014.
Top 10 San Antonio Restaurants I Visited in 2014:
- The Reel Seafood House: This amazing seafood establishment is located right outside of San Antonio in Spring Branch, Texas. It is minutes from San Antonio, so I felt like I could include it. This place is delicious, the seafood is fresh and the service is wonderful.
- Mi Tierra Restaurant & Bakery: Located in the Historic Market Square, this is hands down the most festive Mexican restaurant in San Antonio that includes a bakery in its basement that creates amazing baked goods all day long.
- Lulu’s Bakery & Cafe: Home of the 3 pound cinnamon roll! This is a must for all tourists, for those that have a sweet tooth and for locals. It’s good and the service is great.
- John T Floore Country Store: Once again this restaurant/bar/dance hall is located right outside of San Antonio in Helotes. This establishment is delicious and is known for their tamales and late night music.
- Marianitos Extreme Tex Mex Grill: If you want to take on the 7 pound burrito challenge, this is your place. If you don’t think you can handle the 7 pound burrito by yourself, share it with your family and make it a meal.
- Moroccan Bites: This restaurant was featured on Diners, Drive In’s and Dives so I had to visit and see what it was all about. It was delicious and their variety of Moroccan food was great.
- La Margarita Mexican Restaurant & Oyster Bar: Located at Market Square, this Mexican food establishment is delicious and once again the service is fantastic. If you decide to visit La Margarita, I recommend the fajitas.
- Richter’s Antler Cafe: This is another restaurant that is located outside of San Antonio, in Spring Branch, Texas. They are a restaurant that you won’t be able to stop coming back to. They provide down home cooking that includes amazing chicken fried steak and the biggest and juiciest hamburgers you will ever sink your teeth into.
- Specht’s Restaurant: Just minutes from San Antonio is a little gem of a building that serves up amazing BBQ in the cutest little building. This place is a must.
- JW Marriott: I originally visited the JW Marriott this Christmas to attend the Illumination show, but while I was there I decided to dine at High Velocity located inside the JW Marriott. This is a must eat at establishment. The food is amazing and so is the ambiance.
I cannot wait to start the new year with eating at more amazing places in and around San Antonio. As I said above, there are so many options to choose from and I am very excited to add to my top 10 list of places to eat in San Antonio.
